How To Get Started: Everything to Consider Before Creating Your First Canva Product [How To Sell Canva Products - Part 4 of 4]

In this ‘How to Sell Canva Products’ blog series, I’m sharing four weeks worth of things to think about if you’re considering selling Canva Products in your business! Each post in the series will give you a little bit more information about WHY and HOW to start selling Canva Products, so you can decide if it’s the best next step for your business.

At this point in our blog series, you’ve learned why Canva products are the HOTTEST digital product on the market right now, why YOU should add them to your business, and why the market is NOT too saturated for you to start selling them.

But if you landed on this blog post, I’m guessing you’ve made the (super smart 😉) decision that selling Canva templates is for you… and you’re wondering how to get started!

Well, love, you’re in exactly the right place. I have exactly the thing you need to start selling Canva products in your business right away.

But, before we get started, I want to share the top three things you need to consider before creating your first Canva product...

What to Consider Before Creating Your First Canva Product

WHY do you want to create a Canva Product?

I want to take a moment to remind you that the time, love, and attention you’re about to put into creating your first Canva product is going to be so worthwhile.

There are soooo many good reasons to start selling Canva templates, but before you get started, I want you to get very clear on your personal WHY. Taking the time to determine your goal in creating Canva products is going to help you stay on track through the process!

Maybe your why is one of the reasons I shared in my post, The Benefits of Selling Canva Products:

  1. To STOP trading your time for money
  2. To position yourself as an expert in your field
  3. To funnel clients into higher-ticket offers, products, or services

Or maybe you have your own special reason that’s lighting a fire in your heart to get started!

Pull out a blank sheet of paper and spend the next 5 minutes jotting down WHY you decided to add Canva products to your business!

WHO are you creating this Canva Product for?

Before you can figure out WHAT you’re creating, I recommend getting very clear on WHO your future Canva product is for.

When adding Canva products to your business, you want to make sure that it fits in seamlessly with your existing offers. Chances are, the person you are creating this Canva product for is the same person that you are gearing your other products or services to!

Who is the ICA (Ideal Client Avatar) for your business? You may already have a very clear picture of who this is!

If you haven’t spent time brainstorming details about your ICA, take a few minutes to do that now. You can use the following questions as a guide as you brainstorm:

  • What do they do for a living?
  • What do they enjoy?
  • What does a day in their life look like?
  • What are their goals + priorities?
  • What are their biggest frustrations + challenges?
  • Why might they be looking for Canva products?

WHAT type of Canva Product do you want to create?

Maybe you already have a great idea for your first Canva product, or maybe you don’t! (And if you don’t have an idea yet, don’t worry. You’re going to have one soon, and it’s going to be amazing.)

To start, my biggest tip is to go through your current Canva dashboard and look at all the tools you’ve already created and are already using in your business — either for yourself or to help your clients.

If you deliver in-person services, maybe there’s a checklist or a worksheet that you bring along to make sure you can get all the info you need. If you have some sort of onboarding process for your service, maybe you’re using a beautiful questionnaire as part of that process.

Whatever it is that you do, chances are you’re already using something on a regular basis in your business that you could easily share with others as a template, so you can help them get better results, faster!

Here are just some of the many different types of Canva products you can create!

  • Workbooks + Worksheets
  • eBooks + Printables
  • Social Media Graphics
  • Stationary Sets + Journal Pages
  • Client Onboarding Kits + Checklists
  • Webinar Slides + Outlines
